Spring 2021

Hi everyone, To all our friends in the US, I hope the experience these past few months has been nothing but positive. The rapid vaccination effort followed by recovery has been astonishing to see, especially from a country such as Japan, where vaccinations of the general public are far from being a reality. Off the bat I'd like to note that our family did return to the US, albeit for a brief period, and were able to get vaccinated during that time. We have since returned to Tokyo, but during our time in LA, we were able to experience firsthand how intense quarantine must have been and how far things have come towards a recovery. While this time around the outstanding circumstances prevented us from seeing you all, Nagao hopes to come home again soon when covid finally subsides to say hi to you all again. I do apologize for the infrequent updates on this platform. As lockdowns continue to trap Tokyo and much of Japan, life (at least for Nagao) has become quite monotonou...

Winter (November - January) - Snow & Food

Hi everyone, I hope this post finds you all well during what has so far been a harsh winter, in many respects, to all of you in the States, overseas, and, as of late, Japan as well. At least during this pandemic, with very little going on, I've decided to write these updates on a seasonal basis. All things considered, no news is good news; these past couple of months Nagao has, for the most part, stayed home in Kanazawa, where there are single-digit daily infections recorded, far away from the urban hot spots such as Tokyo and Osaka. As I've hinted at in previous posts, Nagao's exercise regimen has only continued to increase in intensity. The cold winter season in this region, unfortunately, prevents him from venturing outside; he has renewed his commitment to the gym that fortunately is both located downstairs and perpetually empty. He also has taken more of a holistic approach, focusing on both physical and mental exercise. He starts the morning with what I would say...

Introduction - Keeping Each Other Up to Date

Hi all, this is Akira, Nagao's son. We hope you're doing well, especially in light of the coronavirus outbreak that has drastically changed our reality over these past few months. We've had a couple friends reach out to us since the closing of the restaurant last year, and Nagao wanted to reach out to those whose contact info he couldn't get before he left to Japan. We think that this blog might be a nice way to keep people in the loop, while providing Nagao the opportunity to reach out to more of you (please leave us a message either in the comments or using the contact form on the right side of the homepage). I've included two tabs on the homepage to hold some old (and new!) memories: a gallery with photos from as early as our beginnings in 97 to Nagao's updates from Japan, and a post archive from our original business website.
